the inspiration for the illustrations were the tapestries woven by the aubusson weavers in creuse. the town is just half an our from the authors home. using a mixture of field guides, sketches, AI [dalle-3] and photshop, each bird has been brought to life engaging its its usual hunting, wading or dabbling.
the poems show the spirit of the birds and are complimented by further notes at the back of the book. there is humour, fables, folklore and references to history or their habitat, breeding and migration.
with 33 birds to choose from, there is plenty to enjoy in this book.
